Tuition rising at Virginia's community colleges

As reported here, "the State Board for Community Colleges in Virginia has authorized a tuition increase of $6.89 per credit hour for in-state students."

SW VA is served well, in my view, by the Virginia Highlands Community College in Abingdon, the Southwest Virginia Community College near the border of Russell and Tazewell counties, and the Mountain Empire Community College in Big Stone Gap.

The Virginia Community College System was the result of the efforts of Governor Godwin and others, who passed Virginia's first sales tax in 1966 to provide funding for the system.
